Smithiglaux is a genus of owls in Strigidae. They are endemic to Africa.

Description[]

Both are small owls without ear-tufts or occipital faces.[3]

Taxonomy[]

Like other owlets, they were once included in the genus Glaucidium.[4] Smithiglaux and one Glaucidium (Sjostedt's Barred Owlet) are sometimes included in this genus.[3] Taxonomic relationships of the Albertine Owlet are unknown.[3]
