This list shows new species of birds. Though some might not be new, they are new as for their use. It also shows new species from the start of January 1.
- Eared Grebe, Podiceps californicus, has been split from the Black-necked Grebe, Podiceps nigricollis.
- Pale Bernieria, Bernieria inceleber, from Long-billed Bernieria, Bernieria madagascariensis. There is a possible third species in this complex (Block, 2012).
