A location. It is one of the largest islands in the world, though it is sparsely populated because of its climate. Greenland lies between Europe to the east and North America to the west, with the island's north edge in the Arctic Circle. It is mostly covered by tundra and glaciers. Greenland is controlled by Denmark.
