Sandpiper-like waders, Limicoli is a suborder of Charadriiformes. They are found worldwide, but the seedsnipes are restricted to South America and the Plains-wanderer is endemic to Australia.

Most species long bills to probe for food in the mud, while curlews and shanks have long bills to reach father than other species.[1]
