A location; a country. Its full name is the United States of America. Also known (abbreviated) as the US and the USA. It is located in North America. It is considered a superpower nation. It was formerly a colony of the United Kingdom.
It is subdivided into 50 states, and also has a number of territories: Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the United States Minor Outlying Islands. Palau, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia were formerly colonies of the US.
